From the very first meeting of the 1999 World Convention of the FGBMFI it was clear that this would be like no other convention since the beginning of the Fellowship. There was an atmosphere of expectation. Everyone knew God was about to move in this last World Convention of the millenium.
The warmth of a close knit family prevailed from the moment delegates entered the hotel. Throughout the days that ensued this feeling grew in the hearts of many. On Monday evening the Holy Spirit took control of the Welcome Session in a powerful way. Business men have many pressures in our high pace society and our leaders often carry heavy burdens with their vision to reach the world with limited resources. All this was placed at Jesus feet and a spirit of release opened the way for the future marching orders we were to receive in the days following.
Man after man reported on the miraculous events in Central America and how more that 100,000 people had come to the Lord in a spiritual fire that was spreading throughout the region. We saw that, although the details may change from country to country, the Holy Spirit wanted this fire to flow through the FGBMFI to the entire world. Numerous prophetic words were given to the effect that we now had a foundation that God would use to bring about the vision He had given to the Fellowships founder, Demos Shakarian.
It was repeatedly evident that the anointing was flowing through International President, Richard Shakarian, and our willingness to put aside differences, working shoulder to shoulder in openness and closely inter-linked teams.
The entire week was special. What stands out the most is the unity I felt and saw. I believe that we are off to a wonderful start into the new millenium when we will see things we have not yet seen in our Fellowship around the world.
The convention brought togetherness and unity.
We saw how God wants to expand our vision to take whole nations for His kingdom. This was a theme throughout the Convention. In Japan Christians need to take confidence and step out in boldness as never before, sharing about Jesus Christ. It is time for us to go out to the people. Up to now our thrust has been in Chapter meetings where guests would come to us. We believe the call is to reach right to the highest levels of our society in the power of the Holy Spirit.
The anointing flowed in an overwhelming way and I pray we all take it back to our countries. Personally, I want to be used to carry the anointing into the surrounding nations. For example, in our upcoming outreach to Poland in September.
Did I not tell you I would impact you, that I would impact my glory through you. This has happened and I have ripped the veil all the way through. Open your eyes and see; I have stirred that mighty wind within you. Surely my revelation shall be revealed as never before. Receive it, for this day shall be a new day for all of you. You shall see the nations in a new way. I have told you it is harvest time and you are the sickle. I have planted in you and now is the harvest. Fear not and let it rip into the harvest. You shall see a river of my glory. This day, this hour, I have redeemed for you. Take it, run with it, and see what I am about to do.
One of my great-aunts came early in the week. She was so blessed that she came back every day. After the last meeting she came to me and said, "I have not seen the blessing like this since the very early days of the Fellowship."
In those early days it was a group of Americans receiving the blessing. God has called me specifically to see that blessing extended to all nations and that is what we are witnessing. People coming from around the world and taking the fire back with them.
In June the southern coastal city of San Miguel held a convention following the pattern used in Nicaragua. Fifty meetings were set up and the fire came. The same excitement was felt as the men prepared for great numbers of new believers. This was what Demos Shakarian saw in the spirit. Common, ordinary men and women bringing multitudes into the Kingdom by the power of the Holy Spirit. Richard Shakarian is encouraging men to believe God for a "higher level" of ministry and it is happening today. Those involved in this revival are all saying the same thing. God is at work! At every level and in every witnessing opportunity, the men see miracles. God has opened doors of opportunity. He has opened the hearts of people to receive Jesus. He has anointed our men to minister in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Demos spent 14 months trying to start the chapter in Cliftons Cafeteria without much success. Then God took over. The numbers of those who pressed into that upstairs breakfast room were staggering. Nevertheless, Demos was looking forward to the day when ordinary men and women would take the Gospel to every person on the earth. He knew that it would be the work of the Holy Spirit. God would be in control, pouring His Spirit out upon all flesh!
Demos envisioned the chapters as "platforms from where the men can serve God." Chapters are not just banquets or meetings, but rather places where our men can be released into Gods gifts and callings for their lives. Chapter leaders are first responsible for helping their members become fishers of men in their homes, workplaces and neighbourhoods. Chapters are birthplaces of ministry. Chapters are groups of men and women in fellowship. This is a real breakthrough for seeing the fulfilment of the vision given to Demos Shakarian. Our chapters are full of men who have a common thread running through them: They want to serve the Lord!
The future great ministers of the end times are sitting in our chapters. Our job is to help them discover their calling and to walk in it. In some countries, the chapters have created the new position called "Director of Outreach". At every chapter meeting, this Director matches members who want to share their testimonies with ministry opportunities in factories, schools, offices, etc.
