It’s Happening in Nicaragua!

If you are looking for something that is "really happening" there is one event that you have to put on your agenda. Revival is breaking out among the businessmen! Anyone coming to be a part of one of the "fire teams" on May 3rd-8th, 1999, will take new vision home with them. Personally, I have never been so excited! This is what Demos wrote about in his book "THE VISION INTENSIFIED: A NEW WAVE OF REVIVAL!".

FGBMFI International President, Richard Shakarian, has called our members "to come up a level in their service to the Lord Jesus." It was in Miami this past January that he suggested to the Latin American Leaders that Nicaragua would be the place for a special event.

Upon returning to Nicaragua, our men were told about a vision in which a man saw vast wheat fields white and ready for harvest. Finding the passage in the Bible where Jesus spoke about the harvest, they were surprised to read "...it is about four months until the harvest." It was four months from the time this vision had been received until the major outreach event they had just agreed to.

As our men in Nicaragua have prepared, they have been surprised by how God is opening the way before them. Farms are opening up with hundreds of farm workers. Hospitals are allowing our men to come in shifts. Factory workers are being let off 30 minutes early to hear FGBMFI men share their testimonies. All we can say is that revival is hitting our men – God is doing great things.

Men and women world wide are invited to come to Nicaragua and form "fire-teams". These are small teams aimed at sharing their own experiences of God’s powerful love in their lives. Come and get in on this miracle!

In 1984, Demos Shakarian asked God when the last great revival would come? Too many people were dying without ever hearing about Jesus! God’s answer surprised Demos, "I’m waiting on you. I’ve given you My Son, His name, and His authority. I can’t give you anything more. Take what I’ve given you, and as you go, the revival you’ve been waiting for will break out around you!"

Our FGBMFI men from Nicaragua have been doing this with great results. They are reaching private companies, government organizations and many the various churches.

Come to the Festival

Throughout the world we are asking everyone to fast on Monday, May 3. This is the very first day of our week-long event. We plan to give toys to the children, food to the homeless, and to reach out to young men and women who want to be successful in their careers. We’ll be encouraging members of the government and business communities, visiting ordinary people throughout the land with prayers and helps for those that are sick and needy.

The week will begin with meetings with the president and government leaders to ask one question: "How can we help?" A FGBMFI newspaper will be published. The final festival, to be held on Saturday afternoon, will be an open-air event held at the Plaza de Republica, adjoining the Presidential Palace in Managua. It will feature Latin music with a beat. Come and joins us. If you cannot attend, please pray for us.

It was an honour to have Richard and Vangie Shakarian visit our nation in January. Our one day event was a time of wonderful fellowship. Among the Dutch delegation were FGBMFI National President Ib van der Zee, and Huug Hahn, National Voice Editor for the Netherlands. Richard shared his vision for Nicaragua and how we, in Belgium, could join forces with people from around the world to impact that nation. He shared about a recent outreach in California where the homeless and needy were touched by the thousands. Their visit was a real blessing to the Fellowship in Belgium and helped us in our determination not to give up, but to reach out to the world.

Kosovo Crisis

The need and urgency in Yugoslavia is too great for any one group to meet, Christians have been working together in a unified effort. It is hard to imagine what it is like to be forced from your home with literally nothing, and in many cases to be separated from your family.

Albanians have opened their homes, even with their limited resources, and have shown true Christian charity. Please pray for these people that they will find peace. As Christians work together to help these people, it is actually strengthening the faith of those in Albania. It is now a time that Albanian believers can reach out to others, and their ranks are growing.

Italy

The theme for the week was healing. Joe and I spoke on this and then asked if anyone wanted prayer. So many responded that we said they should give their need to Jesus. As we prayed, the power of God touched hundreds of people. The next day we drove to a little town just outside Modena where we had dinner with a local banker and his wife.

Throughout our time in Italy we saw miracle after miracle. As we simply spoke about Jesus, people were touched, encouraged, blessed and healed. Please pray for the Italian FGBMFI Convention coming up on April 23rd-25th.

Brasil

The FGBMFI has open a new chapter in Fortaleza, in a beautiful hotel. This is the capital of Ceara State. We pray that it will be strong and effective.
